Effect of Dust on Yield and Yield Components of Different Wheat (Triticum aestivum L) Cultivars and Herbicide Efficiency in Weed Control

Abstract

   In order to determine the effect of dust on yield, yield components of different wheat cultivars and herbicide efficiency in weed control, an experiment was conducted as factorial based on a randomized complete block design with four replications during growing season of 2013-2014 at the Campus of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Razi University, Kermanshah. Treatments included application of Atlantis (mesosulfuron-methyl+Iodosulfuron-methyl+Mefenpyr-diethy) and Othello (Mesosulfuron-methyl+ Iodosulfuron-methyl sodium+ Diflufenican) herbicides In quantities of 1.5 liter per hectare, the use of additives included urea and ammonium sulfate, washing and none washing shoots of weeds, and different wheat cultivars Pishgam, Zarin and Behrang. According to the results of this study, dust deposit on weed surface reduced the efficiency of Atlantis and Othello herbicides. The dust also reduced seed yield, biological yield, seed per spike and harvest index in studied wheat cultivars. Overall, Atlantis had the highest percentage of weed control and the highest wheat yield in washed and un-washed plots. Application of additives and washing weed surface just before treatment application increased herbicides efficiency especially herbicide Atlantis under dust condition. The addition of urea to the herbicide solution eliminated the adverse effects of dust particles on herbicide performance and increased its performance compared to the ammonium sulfate. And also cultivar Pishgam yield was better than the others.
